Ranking top agrar
1st Award for the ETH Agricultural Sciences programme
The Agricultural Sciences programme at the D-USYS has received an award in an international ranking in 2016 for the “Best Career Preparation for Employment in Science and Research”.
The prize of the top agrar trade journal was accepted by Professor Achim Walter, Director of Studies. A total of 28 universities were included in the ranking and 10 certificates were awarded. The ETH Agricultural Sciences programme was the only prize-winner that did not come from Germany. And it ended up winning the first prize.
More than 5,000 students from Germany, Austria and Switzerland took part in the fifth international agricultural ranking of the top agrar magazine. This corresponds to a quarter of the prospective agricultural graduates in the German-speaking countries.
In addition, students evaluated their courses at ETH and at the School of Agricultural, Forest and Food Sciences (HAFL) in Zollikofen for the LANDfreund magazine. While the students at ETH rated the fundamentals and teaching in plant sciences in particular as leading, the practical relevance and know-how in agricultural technology were valued at HAFL. Overall, 80% of the students surveyed can recommend ETH and HAFL as educational institutions in the agricultural sector.
